Cortisone Injection - John Flynn Private Hospital
Latest scans showed I needed more pain intervention whilst waiting to see the Surgeon again. We booked a cortisone injection into C5/C6 at the hospital.
This was a good way to test John Flynn private hospital as my current local hospital.
The Dr performing the procedure used CT scanning technology to gradually tap the needles (anesthetic and then cortisone) into the exact right spot within my C5/C6. He said that I could feel worse before I feel better and feeling better could take 2 weeks... and I could get no benefit at all. Wow, can't wait for this ambiguous ride haha
But based on what he could see, surgery would be the outcome, this was mostly a bandaid solution to hopefully give me some relief until that is booked in.
It was reassuring to have an independent opinion that surgery was going to be required.
The local anesthesia was pretty intense from top of head, down face, neck, left shoulder and arm. I now understood why I needed a chaperone haha
All went well, although mine and Elise's aspirations of heading out for dinner at our favourite place that night were quickly squashed when the anethesia was too much!!
