The cancelled appointment, a nice lunch, loads of seafood and AFL GF Day!

After a 2.5 hr drive in a carpark of traffic to Brisbane Jo and I were called and informed the appointment was cancelled....

Jo had tag teamed with Dan and come up earlier in the week to keep me company and drive up to my 1st neurosurgeon appointment. The combo of school holidays, a long weekend and a Friday was a recipe for motorway disaster. After our 2.5 hour drive up (usually 1 hour 25) we decided we needed a reward for later that day. So we picked up the most extravagent array of seafood! We then got some of the best wine from Neil @ Barrels & Stills. As we pulled into a park nearby the surgeon the phone rang....

It was the surgeons office, Dr Tollesson had been called in for an emergency surgery on a baby. How could we be mad at that?

Gutted given the epic drive and another delay on this neck ordeal. But not mad. They offered for us to come back tomorrow, grandfinal day. I politely declined saying the traffic is too much to do two days in a row. Didn't mention my team was playing haha I suggested the following Friday when I was returning for the neurologist. They obliged.

Jo and I sat there in disbelief. Checked the traffic report back.... 3 hours!! That would make for a 5.5 hour day on the road. We decided to make the most of this day and headed to Howard Smith Wharves for lunch. The sun was out the temperature perfect. Plus, I had the fridge in the car to keep our Seafood cool which would make for the best way to spend our evening.

Grandfinal Day was awesome.

Jo and I spent the morning whale watching and lazing on the beach. Wendles popped by for a quick real life F2F sighting on the beach on her travels south. Seems we only ever see each other on beaches in random places!! The best way to say hi :-)

Peter and Tahlia joined us for the game. Pete suprised me with our fav NZ beer thanks to Doog's wedding! Jo arranged the most incredible spread of food. By 3 qtr time though the game was so stressful, Jo (supported by messages from other friends to do the same!!) made me put my neck brace on. haha

My team got up. Today reminded me how normal (yet abnormal) life can be.... but there is so much good to be had within a bad patch. Particularly surrounded by great friends and food.
